Please just read the instructions and start when ready.

Step 1. Get your book.

Step 2. Start at the beginning of a chapter or on a new page.

Step 3. Start the timer here and begin reading the page at your average pace reading for comprehension.

At the end of the 2 minutes,

Step 4. Mark where you got to on your page.

Step 5. Count the individual words on three lines and divide that number by 3 ( that will give you your average word per line)

Step 6. Count how many lines you read from the start to your finish point. (Half or part lines are added to make a full line.)

Step 7. Times how many lines you read by the average number of words on a line and divide that number by 2 (minutes)

Step 8. That’s your word per minute.
