Stage One: Engage (Focus on the Eyes) - Unlock Your Reading Potential with RIRT
Introduction to Rapid Interactive Reticular Tracking (RIRT)
Welcome to the first stage of your new reading journey with our Rapid Interactive Reticular Tracking (RIRT) technique, specifically designed for our neurodivergent audience. Powered by our state-of-the-art Peripheral Wand, this stage is dedicated to revolutionising the way you engage with text through your eyes, the gateways to your brain.

Key Competences: Clarity and Cadence
At the heart of Stage One are two fundamental competencies: Clarity and Cadence. These principles guide the development of our technique to ensure that each user can achieve a clearer understanding and a more natural rhythm in reading.

Step One: Eye Fixation
Traditional Reading vs. RIRT Approach
Traditional Reading: Often leads to multiple eye fixations per line, slowing down reading speed and increasing cognitive load.
RIRT Approach: Utilises the Peripheral Wand to provide multiple Green Tracking Tips, grouping words together in one glance and significantly reducing the number of fixations needed per line. This method not only speeds up the reading process but also enhances comprehension by allowing the eyes to send information to the brain more efficiently.
Importance of Step One
This initial step is crucial as it lays the foundation for a smoother reading experience, organising lines and text effectively and controlling eye movements to prevent fatigue and disorientation.
Step Two: Peripheral Vision
Traditional Reading vs. RIRT Approach
Traditional Reading: Often restricts the reader's focus to a small area, neglecting the potential of peripheral vision.
RIRT Approach: The Wand encourages sharp, precise jumps across lines and pages, expanding the user's peripheral vision. This use of full visual range reduces inefficient eye movements and increases visual alertness, transforming the reading experience from strenuous to effortless.
Importance of Step Two
Expanding peripheral vision is essential for reducing eye fatigue and improving overall speed and efficiency in reading, making this step a pivotal part of the RIRT technique.
Step Three: Reading Blocks
Traditional Reading vs. RIRT Approach
Traditional Reading: Encourages linear, word-by-word reading, which can be slow and laborious.
RIRT Approach: The Wand introduces multiple Tracking Tips to section off lines into manageable blocks, enabling the reader to chunk information and recognise words more quickly. This method promotes faster processing of text and increases vocabulary by encouraging the recognition of words as blocks rather than isolated units.
Importance of Step Three
By teaching the reader to see and process blocks of text, we significantly enhance reading speed and comprehension. This step is vital for building confidence and competence in reading.
